Health & Safety information from the manufacturer:
Although our resins are formulated with the most modern and safest epoxy chemicals available, all epoxy resins are chemicals and should be managed and handled with proactive safety hygiene and responsible care.
Always wear nitrile gloves (or use a specialist resin barrier cream)
Wear a respirator when sanding partially-cured resin
It is advisable to work in a well ventilated room
We advise the use of safety goggles
Avoid skin contact (if resin gets on skin wash with plenty of soap & water)
DO NOT eat, drink or smoke while working
In case of eye contamination wash with plenty of water for 15 minutes and consult medical advice immediately
See the full Safety Data Sheet here.
We advise that you do not open any of the resin or pigment containers until the workshop.
What if something is missing from or broken in my box?
We pack all of our boxes very carefully, but accidents can happen. If something is missing or broken from your box, please contact us as soon as possible at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will try to resolve it - usually by sending you a replacement.
What you'll need at home
As well as your knack box, you'll need:
1. A bin bag or something non absorbent to cover your work surface (this one will get messy). Choose somewhere where your resin items can lie undisturbed overnight to cure.
2. Sellotape and scissors
3. A knife (this doesn't need to be sharp, a table knife is fine, it is to help remove the pads from the coaster)
Make sure to dress for mess!
You'll need to clean and dry your coaster to make sure it is free from any factory grease/grime.
We recommend you stand the pigment containers the right way up for a few hours before using to reduce the likelihood of spillages, however these will still need to be opened carefully!
You can watch the workshop recording below - if you bought a one off box check your email for the password! if you're using a monthly or a gift membership, click the 'subscriber video' button.
More About the Workshop
You'll get the best workshop experience using a laptop or tablet, but you can use a phone if need be (don't forget the charger!)
You'll need to place or prop your device on the workspace you'll be using, with enough space to craft in front of it
We love seeing what you make so please share pictures with us of your knack box and creations - in progress and/or finished and tag us @theknackbox on social media if that's your thing.
We have extra resin materials including resin, pigments, glitter, coasters and some moulds - you can order these below.
