About the Event

October's box will contain all the items you need to complete the month's craft project: a naturally dyed garment. October's live stream workshop will air on Sunday 18th October at 1pm (BST) (8am - Eastern Daylight Time | 7am - Central Daylight Time | 6am - Mountain Daylight Time | 5am - Pacific Daylight Time). You should receive your box a couple of days beforehand however due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, we cannot guarantee it will arrive in time for the workshop. If you're unable to attend the workshop, you'll have access to a recording of it for two weeks following its release.

Your workshop leader, Ceilidh, fell in love with natural dyes when she stumbled across the fact that she could dye fabric pink with avocados and hasen't looked back since! She runs a slow fashion label called BillyNou Apparel and lives in France - so this workshop will be a truly international affari!

In this workshop, Ceilidh will take you through how to make a beautiful mess with flower petals and food waste with a technique called bundle dyeing. You will learn how to transfer plant colour onto a silk scarf ending up with a truly personal and unique accessory that you have created using nothing but magic!

All the items you need for this project will be contained in your box:

- 1 x 55x55cm plain silk piece

- 3 x 15g packets of flower petals (Scaboisa, Orange Marigold and Coreopsis)

- 1 x 40cm length of undyed string

- 1 x herbal tea bag

- 1 x teaspoon of iron powder

Closer to the time of the workshop, we will get in touch to ask you which flower petals you'd like so that your silk garment will be truly personalised to your taste.

You can also upgrade your base material to Peace Silk for an additional fee. If you're keen to make more, you can also get an additional silk piece / packets of flowers for an additional fee. You have the option of using some additional items from your home to make additional colours/patterns - examples are onion skins, coffee, white vinegar or lemon juice.

The increased price of this box compared to those being sold to GB customers is as a result of the additional shipping fees incurred by shipping your box to the USA. Our shipping partner is DHL and their fees vary depending on where you are in the USA. As a result, we have factored in the highest shipping cost to the price. Once you have purchased your box, we will calculate the actual shipping cost using your delivery address. If this is lower than the highest shipping cost, we will refund you the difference between this and the actual shipping cost. This may take up to 10 working days to be processed.
